How To Broadcast?

Thanks for the mic Ry
So, I'm trying to decide whether I should do an actual live stream broadcast, or just record a radio show and post it somewhere. Obviously the latter would be easier, yet the former would be more like an actual radio show. I guess ideally it would be both -- a live broadcast at a set date and time (monthly? weekly?) that gets recorded and posted for people to listen to (and download) on their own. [Click here to see an example of how I ended up doing my show.]

Just recording a show and posting it somewhere, like mixcloud, is what I already know how to do. I can't imagine it's that hard to figure out how to actually create my own stream and broadcast it, but there are probably a lot of details to get right.

JoeSoStudio is ready

I'm thinking I should just record a few "radio shows" and post them the same way I record and post "DJ mixes," on mixcloud. Because really, if I was going to, say, announce I was doing a radio show every 2nd Tuesday of the month from 9-10pm, would people really tune in? Would people actually go to the hosting site (or however I end up doing it) and listen to it live? Probably not. I do have friends and know people who might want to listen to it, but they would probably prefer to hear a recording of it at their own leisure.

On the other hand, doing the live broadcast is what a radio show actually is -- and this is something I want to do because I enjoy the process. So that will be the eventual goal, a "live streaming broadcast" at a set weekly or monthly time. But for now I will start by recording, maybe 3, "radio shows" and posting them on mixcloud with my DJ mixes.

Great view from the studio
